The Adventures of Miles and the Reedells....

Wow... what a fun week (ok, it was a bit more than a week) we had with "Miles the Monkey".  He arrived in our mailbox and brought smiles to MANY faces!!  I should have been posting the ENTIRE time he was here, but alas, I will just post one LONG entry into the blog!!

We welcomed Miles to PA on a VERY cold and snowy day!!

He was already "used to" the cold since he was with Sarah and Jude a bit north of us for the past week or so!  The girls didn't see me open the package, but as soon as I had Miles' head pop out of the package, they both squeeled with excitement.  I had told Angela about the "Miles Project" a while before, but had NO clue when we'd have in our home, but to our surprise, he was here, and we couldn't have been happier to have him here!!

I took him out for some pictures at our house before the girls' were even awake from their naps.

As soon as Miles made his appearance, the girls wanted him to meet ALL of the members of the family.
Angela was the FIRST to hug him!

Then they introduced him to Jake (the cat)

then to Oscar the cat....

then Ollie (the bunny)

then to our fish "silver and yellow"

After all the formal introductions were taken care of, the girls wanted to take Miles our sledding.  So, we bundled him up in a nice blue scarf and hat, and out they went.

Everyone had a good time sledding, and then when they came in, Miles settled down in our sunroom with a nice cup of "tea" (prepared by Elyse) and then cuddled under a blanket with a nice "book".

Every once in a while we'd find him "hanging out" in our ficus tree...

On saturday morning, we headed off to the Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus.  We had GREAT seats and the kids and Miles enjoyed the animal acts especially!!  I think Angela even tried to feed him some cotton candy - Elyse kept it all to herself!!

Miles rode with us just about every place we drove, mostly in the hands of Elyse.  He went to Elyse's mommy and me classes, tot-r-cise, and slept with Elyse almost every single night.  She was getting VERY attatched!!   We feared the day that Miles would have to go visit another Junie until we remembered, Miles had a "cousin" named Niles up in Angela's room (my parents' brought the monkey back from the San Diego zoo for her a few years back).  They look very similar, but Niles is a darker brown.

So, they (Miles and Niles) chated and got to "know each other" and best of all Elyse will have a monkey that she can keep forever!!!

To keep himself in shape during his travels, Miles decided to borrow "Nordi" for a while (that's what I call my Norditrack...)... you should see those budlging muscles now... hot monkey!!

The weather began to change last week, and finally it was feeling like spring.  We headed to the park for some outdoor fun - NO scarves or hats needed this time!!  Miles got to swing and slide till his little heart was content... and VERY tired.

He also got to experience a Chuck E Cheese birthday party (one of Angela's friends).  He rode some rides, and almost got dropped into the cake... but we saved him and he was unscathed!!  He enjoyed the jungle gym... and wanted to stay, but all good things have to come to an end...

Then that brings us to today - the last day of Miles' visit.  Miles' visited Angela's school and got to meet her pre-k teacher (Mrs. Dearing),
and Angela kissed him goodbye!  No doubt the little monkey will be missed by MANY Reedells!

Bye Bye Miles... the Reedells will miss you!!

Then Elyse and I went home to get him all "packed up" and ready for his treck down south.  We included a little note, made a "pillow" and blanket to keep him comfy... and then took him to the post office!!

So, that was our week (or so) of fun with Miles... it was a GREAT week had by all!!  Can't wait to see what Miles does next!!
